long hill consulting has been doing a broad range of information systems consulting since 1989.
much of our work has been centered on efficient information management (im) for large systems. relational database management systems (rdbms) are often core components of such systems. we have experience with web databases, data warehouse systems, logical and physical database design, and database tuning. oracle has been the most common rdbms for large im systems, and this is reflected in the large amount of oracle server work we've done. we also have expertise with sql server and sybase.
spatial databases, especially point-spatial databases, are an active interest of ours. if you have ever used an internet yellow page (iyp) service that is capable of sorting listings by geographic proximity to your house, say, you are familiar with point-spatial databases. the web, private intranets, and digital libraries have a great deal of geographic information that isn't being effectively searched with current tools. we have an active interest in geo-enabling both structured and unstructured digital information sources.
